Yuka is a supporting protagonist in the Elfen Lied series.
What Makes Her a Scrappy?[]
- She is among considered one of the most hated characters in the Elfen Lied series for her annoyingly jerkish and abusive behavior towards Kouta and envious behavior towards Lucy when she was seen as a love rival.
- While it is true Tomoo and Director Kakuzawa are also widely hated the difference is they are meant to he hated Hate Sinks while she is meant to be likable.
- While she somewhat improves later on in the Manga, more people are familiar with the Anime that cover her at her worst and even then the Manga fans find her far from completely likable as she still have enough flaws to not make her a rescued Scrappy.
- People found her incestous crush on Kouta creepy since they are cousins and even when factoring those who know Japanese Culture who sometimes marry their own cousins they still find it far from better one bit, it doesn't help her abusive behavior of slapping Kouta over every misunderstanding saying she hates him despite supposing to "love him".
- People ultimately saw her taking away time from other characters as even Nozomi who is comic relief of wetting herself and her subplot with her estranged father is far more interesting than Yuka.
- At the end of the Manga since Lucy got killed off at the end of it, it was heavily implied she won Kouta over as Kouta's daughter Nyu Jr. (Nicknamed Nyuu Jr. by fans to avoid confusion with the original) resembles her implying incest won out in the end ultimately one of the biggest hated things in the series and one of most disappointing endings of Manga.
- While she has fans it is too minor vocal and even then they just mostly complain on her being hated with few giving out reasons to make her more likable.
- Ultimately people would rather have Lucy survived the end of the Manga and have Kouta end up with her as his love interest than Yuka who despite committing mass homicide and torture especially when she was one who took the lives of his father & sister in front of him giving him PTSD she has extremely sympathetic traits that prevent her from being hated (mostly) while also having a better chemistry with Kouta even if he was ticked off about her he willingly still gave her a second chance. This ultimately shows she is disliked so much to the point where people rather have Kouta end up with a mass murdering misanthrope that took the life of his own father & sister than Yuka.
Trivia[]
- She is the only Elfen Lied character so far to be a Scrappy as other characters either meant to hated Hate Sinks or actually are likable.
- She ironically is opposite of her love rival Lucy who is a Main Light Horse and more favored for Kouta's love interest with very little hate though while had a lot more when Anime came out but dies down in recent times and any hate being outside the fanbase of Elfen Lied minor at best even then.
- Her reception would've likely been effected had Elfen Lied Anime had a continuation since it would've included her arcs of her character improvement and likely could've make her Base-Breaking.
- She is the second user Scrappy Proposed Character with the first being Jeffery Fecalman who were done at same time when user made proposals were first launched, as well as the first one to be done by a normal user as Jeffery's was done by an administrator to show an example of the new proposal system and first one to be delayed multiple times.
