Vern and Johnny are minor characters in Family Guy. Vern is voiced by Seth MacFarlane, while Johnny never speaks, being mute.
They are annoying, bland and unfunny, relying on random musical cutaways that are completely out of nowhere and take up time.
As a result of their negative reception from fans, Stewie killed them.
Furthermore, Stewie breaks the fourth wall asking the viewers if they're happy now that the two are dead and assuring them that they won’t appear again.

Despite their death, they later appeared again as ghosts, with Johnny being shown playing piano in Hell. Ironically, it was revealed posthumously that Johnny was a pedophile criminal, so Stewie had a justification for killing him, especially since he himself is a baby.
They were among the deceased that appeared in the episode Coma Guy.
Images of the duo appeared in the LA office studio as a reminder of dead (incidental) characters to never reappear again in future episodes.
