NOTE: This article only talks about the self-insert of the same name in the animated television series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, as the real-life person that shares the same name (who is the creator of said series) is a real person, as real people cannot be on this wiki.

Thomas Astruc is a minor character in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, and is a self-insert character based on the show's creator of the same name. In the episode "Animaestro", he is Akumatized into the titular villain and serves as the villain of the week.

He is voiced by his real-life counterpart in the original French version and Jason Marnocha in the English version.

What Makes Him A Scrappy?[]

  • He is merely an author avatar/self-insert character to main creator of the show, serving little importance to the plot. Said creator is already a very controversial person.
  • The whole plot of "Animaestro" revolves around how he directed the new film featuring Ladybug and Cat Noir, but no one at the opening party seems to care about himself as the director. This whole plotline comes off to the viewers as narcissistic since the main creator made it so the viewers can "pity" the fictionalized version of himself.
  • Some fans think he’s a missed opportunity, thinking his episode could have been used to face criticisms to animation (like the stereotype it is just for kids) and teach a lesson about the difficulties of being a writer or a producer.
  • While his akumatized form is mostly seen as fine, his weakness is criticized by fans due to feeling bizzarre.
