A scrappy is a character that is unpopular in a bad way. They are characters that were supposed to be likable, but came off as hated. Here is a basic list of criteria for a Scrappy.
Scrappy Rule List
- The character has to be hated by the majority of fans. Avoid base-breaking characters or characters hated by a vocal minority. Also, if a character is hated in one season or one installment, but gets a better reception later, they do not count.
- Usually, the character has to be unintentionally hated. Avoid putting villains just for doing evil things. If a villain is poorly written , they, however, can be put here.
- Try not to go overboard in the hatred of a character. Keep it civil.
- To avoid knee jerk reactions, an article on a character should be created a month after their introduction.
- The character themselves has to be hated, not their work or actor.
Possible Reasons a Character Can Be a Scrappy:
- Comic relief that comes off as more annoying than funny.
- Characters that come off as negative stereotypes
- Villains that lack any real motivation or interesting traits, and come off as generic.
- Villains that receive undeserved sympathy, despite how vile they were.
- Characters that are useless or detrimental to their allies.
- Characters with poor acting or performances.
