The Disruptor is a minor antagonist in the 2021 game, HITMAN: World of Assassination. He is an Elusive target, part of the Summer 2024 Season of the Disruptor.

He is a multi-billionaire MMA fighter who rocked up to 100 wins until he was Invited to join the Ark Society in Isle of Sgail to fight another billionaire, Timothy Quinn to the death. He was killed by Agent 47 because a few clients wanted Tim Quinn to stay alive.

He was voiced by MMA fighter, Conor McGregor.

What Makes Him a Scrappy?

• To not sugarcoat it, the casting & promotion of Conor McGregor. It raised a lot of eyebrows and gained quite an outrage among Hitman fans & players, and one of the biggest reasons he is hated.
  • Conor McGregor has a big history of getting into controversies, legal issues and violent crimes, notably Driving Offenses, Punching an old man in a pub, breaking Francesco Facchinetti's nose, and most notoriously, rape & sexual assault cases in Dublin, Miami & Corsica. And yet after all this, Conor McGregor, who could ironically be a Hitman Target with his controversies, was cast, playing a pastiche of himself, in a video game where you kill worst of the worst scumbags in extremely creative ways. Needless to say, it was a decision made in very poor taste.
  • Even then some fans did think that IO Interactive made McGregor a target to specifically cater to his hatedom, which doesn't make a lot of sense due to the heavy promotion around the game and paying McGregor potentially millions to act in the game. as well as releasing a 5$ Disruptor pack featuring (not good) items and the Disruptor arcade mission.
  • On November 15, 2024, IOI made another poor taste decision, they reran the Disruptor mission, and it was supposed to be on air for 3 weeks until December 8th, but this was also the time where McGregor was in the epicenter of the massive aforementioned Dublin rape case. This drew the outrage of many fans wondering why they were promoting him during that time. Thankfully though, When McGregor was found guilty of the case on November 25. IOI Immediately cut ties with McGregor, stopped the Disruptor mission, pulled the Disruptor pack off stores (those who bought the pack were allowed to keep their items) and deleted all their adverts on social media featuring him. This made many hitman fans happy.
• Even in the mission, The Disruptor is meant to be hyped up as this extremely trained fighter, but when you actually fight him after taking Tim Quinn's place, he goes down easily in an extremely pathetic way. Even when fighting Tim Quinn to the death, it's a prime objective to keep Quinn alive, and yet The Disruptor doesn't do anything and just stalls for as long as you need. Also, despite being a fighter, you can just run up to the Disruptor and punch him in the face, while he does nothing, it's in stark contrast to a previous elusive target, Sully Bowden who is also a boxer, but can still throw hands with Agent 47 should 47 try to punch him.
• The Disruptor character himself is also, very flat, Again, it's just McGregor playing himself, while being a jerk and threatening everyone around him. also, despite being a fighter, he is also pretty cowardly and flees the island at the first sign of danger,
• Even after you supposedly "kill" The Disruptor, there is a cutscene where he is lying dead on a hospital bed in Hokkaido, only to wake up, making him a Karma Houdini.
  • With IOI cutting ties to McGregor, this likely is going to be an Aborted Arc or put on a Bus indefinitely.
  • It's also minor, but the cutscene where The Disruptor wakes up in the hospital is unskippable, so it creates more frustration.
• After IOI pulled the Mission and the Disruptor pack off stores, potentially forever, there are very few people who miss this mission.
  • However, this Ironically caused some items in the game to now be extremely rare, and in freelancer, there is a case containing items from all celebrity Elusive Targets, that can only be obtained from buying their packs. With the Disruptor pack gone, now there are going to be players with an always empty spot where those items are supposed to be.
