~ The Archon introducing himself to Scott (or Sara) Ryder |
The Archon is a main antagonist and the final boss of Mass Effect: Andromeda. He is one of the rulers of Kett, a hostile alien race that invades the Heleus Cluster, and the primary nemesis of Pathfinder Team led by Scott (or Sara) Ryder.
He was voiced by Robert Kazinsky.
What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]
- He is universally viewed as one of the blandest and most generic villains in the history of video games who has almost no notable lines, little personality, no interesting motive besides "kill/assimilate all species", or any type of depth to speak of.
- He desires to murder and/or assimilate any and all species he comes across, but has no real motives to do so other than to increase his own power and because he views all non-kett Species as barely sapient.
- His design is seen as very bland, with a villanous cape and short stature that really does not make him look intimidating.
- Unlike Kai Leng, the players also don't even get the satisfaction of fighting him in a final battle.
- In the end, the Archon lacks any depth, intrigue, or menace; which hurts even more since the previous games were notable for making some of the most memorable villains in the industry with deep characterization, strong motives, or just straight-up nightmare-inducing intimidation.
- As a side effect of his characterization, many players end of viewing the kett negatively due to the Archon.
Trivia[]
- He is one of three Mass Effect villains to be a Scrappy, alongside Kai Leng and The Catalyst.
