Terry Long is a minor character in the Detective Comics franchise, acting as a major protagonist of both the Teen Titans and the Wonder Girl comics.
He is a writer and former professor who briefly married Donna Troy, AKA Wonder Girl, and fathered her son, Robert. After Donna began focusing more on her hero role than being with him and Robert, Terry divorced her and was later killed in an accident. He was then briefly resurrected as a brainwashed member of the Black Lantern Corps before once again dying.
What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]
- Outside of his relationship with Donna, he is a boring character who doesn’t contribute to any major events until his death, which itself was indirectly caused.
- His relationship with Donna comes off as creepy, considering how he is ten years older than her, they have no chemistry with each other, and he isn’t afraid to make passes at former students of his and even some of Donna's friends.
- While his divorce from Donna and eventual death were meant to paint him in a sympathetic light, this falls flat when conversations with his ex-wife, Marcia, and his aforementioned passes imply that he divorced Donna simply because he was bored with her.
- While unintentional on his part, his actions led his brother and ex-wife to become hostile and angry towards Donna and mutants in general.
- He bares an uncanny resemblance to his creator, Marv Wolfman, which combined with his relationship with female characters, makes him come off as an author avatar.
