So... I'm non-binary.
~ Taash's infamous quote to their mother.

Evataash, more known as Taash is one of Rook's companions of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. They're a Tal-Vashoth dragon hunter and a Lord of Fortune.

They was voiced by Jin Maley.

What Makes Them a Scrappy?[]

  • First of all, Taash's design is not at all in the slightest appealing, especially comparing with Arishok in Dragon Age II or Iron Bull in Inquisition.
  • Taash's personality is also rather obnoxious, brash, bratty, hyperactive, argumentative, self-centered and reckless.
  • Another annoying aspect of Taash is that they are incapable of taking responsibility and place the blame on others.
  • They're also a complete hypocrite, as they get mad when people don't respect their gender identity but is one of the first to judge others on their lifestyles and appearances.
  • They are constantly arguing with the other companions over the smallest of things like Neve's choice of clothing and when they refuses to call Emmrich by the name he wants to go by.
  • In their romance scenes, their attempts at flirting are supposed to come off as quirky yet comes off as predatory.
  • During the scene where they confront their mom on their gender identity, Taash lashes out at her, despite their mother genuinely wanting to understand their identity. It does not help that their mother tells them there is a term in the Qun already, yet Taash lashes out at them for being confused.
  • Despite being an obnoxious, selfish brat, there are no options to call them out or even question them, you are expected to say nothing and side with them.
  • Their growling and roaring is supposed to come off as badass and tough, but it comes off as cringy and awkward.
  • They do not grow as a character, they stay obnoxious, bratty, argumentative and self-centered by the end of the game.
  • As revealed in The Art of Dragon Age: The Veilguard (explained in detail in this video), Taash's original story and design were different from what was presented in the game. Instead of a brash teenager with gender identity problem, they were a dragon hunter who grew up in free-spirited, multi-cultural county of Rivain (like Isabela), but also was raised to respect the Qun and their Qunari heritage, and their original storyline was originally meant to revolve around their choices between their Qun heritage and Rivaini values. Not to mention that their design was much better than what was presented in the game. Such revelations made players hate the release Taash even more.
  • They are bad representation, as they are poorly written and downright offensive to actual non binary people.
