Starscream is a supporting character in season 1 and the main antagonist of season 2 in the 2022 television series Transformers: EarthSpark.
He was an ally of the Terran Hashtag before betraying her to become the leader of the Decepticons.
He was voiced by Steve Blum.
What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]
- His personality was completely changed in Season 2, as he went from an anti-villain with a sad backstory to a one-note usurper who wanted to take over the world for no apparent reason.
- All of his sympathetic qualities are gone, and him helping defeat G.H.O.S.T. has been retconned into pragmatism instead of a truly heroic act.
- What's worse, his heartwarming friendship with Hashtag has been recontextualized as him trying to manipulate her.
- He's not even a good villain, as he's just Prime Starscream without any of his interesting personality traits.
- Since he was abused by Megatron, who's now a hero, the show gives off the unfortunate message that abuse victims aren't capable of redemption while their abusers are.
- He's a direct contradiction of the show's message that "bad" people aren't usually bad and are deserving of a second chance, since he's just a villain who only pretended to have redeeming qualities.
- While all of the Decepticons were turned into depthless villains in Season 2, Starscream still manages to stand out as the most Flanderized, as his wholesome friendship with Hashtag was ruined and he wasted the idea of a Starscream redemption arc, both of which fans were extremely angry about.

- Steve Blum previously voiced Starscream in Transformers: Prime, a series that had a much better received version of the character.
- While he is a Scrappy now, his status may change in Season 4 and may become a Base-Breaking Character if he redeems himself again.
