~ One of Scrapper's many denigrating remarks toward Link |
LD-301S Scrapper, or simply Scrapper, is a supporting character in the 2011 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. He is an ancient robot owned by Gondo who Link helps repair to retrieve large items from the Surface.
What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]
- Scrapper was widely criticized for his antagonistic relationship with Link, which is never explained or resolved during the main questline.
- After helping Gondo fix Scrapper by retrieving an Ancient Flower from the Surface, Scrapper refuses to thank Link until Gondo urges him to, declaring that "serving children is very low in [his] task priority."
- Scrapper's repetitive use of the nickname "Master Shortpants" for Link quickly grew grating and tiresome for many players.
- Whenever Fi summons him to transport cargo, Scrapper will often flaunt his capabilities or denigrate Link.
- During the water basin delivery, Scrapper descends to the Eldin region ahead of Link, eager to relieve himself of the weight. This results in him traveling to the wrong location, forcing Link to escort him past several waves of enemies to reach the summit.
- Upon realizing he descended to the wrong location, Scrapper sardonically orders Link to protect him against any threats they encounter, refusing to take accountability for his mistake.
- Unlike Groose, Scrapper undergoes little to no character development and shows no desire to make amends with Link or correct his ways.
- Scrapper's willingness to help Link is driven solely by his infatuation with Fi, which is never explained or resolved. Even Fi, who is typically stoic and unemotional, is notably baffled by his advances.
- While Scrapper's antics and persistent behavior were likely intended to inject humor into the game, most players found him tedious and predictable rather than amusing.
