Scooby-Dum is a minor character in the Scooby-Doo franchise. He is the title character’s dumb cousin.
He was voiced by the late Daws Butler.
What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]
- As his name implies, he is stupid. Though his personality is meant to come across as comedic, he comes across as more annoying than genuinely funny. Even Scrappy (who has endangered himself multiple times) is smarter and more likable than he is. Scooby had to constantly guide him to find obvious clues or lead him away from danger.
- He is an offensive stereotype to country-folk.
- Due to being strongly disliked by fans, he only appeared in four episodes of the Scooby-Doo Show.
- Compared to Scrappy, he was immediately and strongly hated since his debut, while Scrappy initially had a more positive reception before turning it into a more negative one.
Trivia[]
- He's the fifth Scrappy in the Scooby-Doo franchise behind Buck Masters, Carl The Ape Man, Flim-Flam and Robi, preceding the character that the term was named after.
- To add fuel to the fire he appeared in a cameo picture in Jellystone where he was confronted by an angry mob seen in the picture.
