Sam Star is the titular deuteragonist of the infamous SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Big Sister Sam". She is Patrick's older sister.
She is voiced by Bill Fagerbakke, who also does the voice of her brother Patrick.
What Makes Her a Scrappy[]
- Essentially, she comes off as a more one-dimensional version of her brother Patrick, being significantly dumber than him (which is saying a lot), but also a lot meaner and more aggressive than Patrick ever was.
- She's introduced right out of nowhere, since the episode "Something Smells" clearly establishes that Patrick never had a sister.
- The episode she's featured in tries to make her funny, but most of her jokes come off as repetitive and dull, consisting mostly of destroying stuff around her and throwing temper tantrums. This makes her come off as more annoying than entertaining to most fans.
- She's needlessly cruel to both Squidward and SpongeBob, which is especially egregious considering that SpongeBob not only is Patrick's best friend, but didn't do anything to warrant any of Sam's mistreatment of him.
- What's more, the episode expects the audience to see Squidward as the antagonist for trying to get rid of her, even though the only reason he's being this hostile towards her is because she destroyed his house and kept assaulting him. This makes his anger towards her and Patrick completely justified to most fans.
- Despite the fact that Patrick acknowledges her bad behavior and calls her out on it, she never gets any consequences for being a menace for most of the episode. In fact, she gets easily forgiven by both her brother, and SpongeBob, who has every right to be mad at her.
- Overall, she's considered one of the main reasons why her debut episode is so divisive among SpongeBob fans.
