Salen Kotch is the main antagonist of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. He is the ruthless military leader of the Settlement Force, a group of off-world insurgents from Mars who are hell-bent on controlling the entire solar system and eradicating all of Earth culture. He is also the archenemy of Special Combat Air Recon operative Captain Nick Reyes.

He was voiced by Kit Harrington.

What Makes Him a Scrappy?

• His speeches are very grandiose and over-the-top, with it being basically what you'd expect from a villain.
• He kills one of his own henchmen right in front of Wolf just to prove that "death is no disgrace", which is also very cliché from a villain to kill one of his minions just to make a point.
• His catchphrase "death is no disgrace" is very flat for a villain, especially when you had far better villains quotes from Call of Duty such as Menendez' "You suffer with me" or Makarov's "All it takes is the will of a single man".
• His motivations of invading Earth is very typical of a villain, especially compared to villains in the series with far more interesting motivations like:
  • Raul Menendez who wanted to cripple the entire US army and kill Mason in front of Woods to prove them the pain of losing of a loved one.
  • General Shepherd wanting to start World War III to get revenge on Makarov for killing thousands of his men with a nuke.
  • Jonathan Irons who wanted to develop manticore to completely ravage the army and prevent them from causing any more war and avenge his son's death.
• When Nick Reyes corners him and prepares to kill him, he starts monologuing that Reyes "lacks what it takes to win this war" before Reyes finally kills him.
  • To drive the point of how pathetic of a villain he is, he doesn't even die at the end of the game like most Call of Duty villain, and killing him before he finishes his boring monologue grants the player the "You know nothing" achievement.
• He is by far one of the most negative traits of Infinite Warfare, being one of the reasons so many people hate the game, and even those who actually enjoy the campaign say Kotch was the worst character in the game, especially compared to compelling protagonists like Reyes, Salters, and Ethan.
