Ronnie White is a minor character in the 2007 remake of Halloween, which is directed by Rob Zombie. He is of the people responsible for turning Michael Myers into the serial killer he is known as.
He was played by actor William Forsythe and was the third victim of serial killer Michael Myers.
What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]
- In a strange example, he was a character that was meant to be disliked, but ended up being disliked for completely different reasons:
- He was meant to come up as an abusive father and husband that will be so loathsome viewers will understand what led Michael Myers to become The Shape we know as well as cheer when the character is finally murdered by Michael.
- The problem is that he comes up as so exaggerated and one-dimensional that it is hard to take him seriously as a realistic portrayal, he was sold as and feels almost like an unintentional parody of one that seems to torment his family because it amuses him, rather that coming up as a realistic portrayal of an abusive parent.
- Another reason he's disliked is that in the reboot is that his abuse a major part of the backstory that led to Michael Myers become a murderer later on his life, but among fans and critics, the thing that made Michael Myers so terrifying of a character was precisely he was pure evil and lacked any humanizing or redeemable quality. So, his existence completely misses the point of the original character and throws away the mystique that made him so unique.
- He also makes painful obvious homophobic jabs, transphobic jabs and makes perverted comments of her teenage stepdaughter to drive home, which is the fact he is a bad person.
- He hardly has any realistic reactions to anything around him, and he doesn't even react with shock when he discovers Michael is killing animals and just calls him random slurs.
- He's so loud and ridiculous, mixed with his need of saying a swear word in every phrase, which makes him come off as insufferable during his entire screentime.
- Some viewers have pointed out his behavior comes closer to an overgrown schoolyard bully than an abusive parent.
- His very introduction has his mocking the crying of a baby, which is almost a caricature of an evil person.
- He was meant to come up as an abusive father and husband that will be so loathsome viewers will understand what led Michael Myers to become The Shape we know as well as cheer when the character is finally murdered by Michael.
