Princess Elise The Third is the deuteragonist of the infamously panned 2006 game Sonic the Hedgehog.
She was voiced by Lacey Chabert.
What Makes Her a Scrappy?[]
- Her design received criticism for being realistic, which many players thought didn’t fit the Sonic series.
- Sonic’s plot in the game has been criticized for being less interesting the Shadow’s, mostly because it was about him rescuing Elise after she was kidnapped more times.
- Another criticism she received is that she willingly gives herself up to Eggman, in an attempt to protect her citizens, despite being the ruler of a country with an army and knowing Eggman wanted to use her to take over the world.
- She is also the reason for Iblis' release when she idiotically got herself killed from the Egg Carrier explosion which also results to the end of the world and not only that but also to the point that Sonic gets killed by Mephiles during the beginning of the last story.
- Her relationship with Sonic has received many criticisms, mainly because she’s an human and he’s an anthropomorphic hedgehog. Their relationship also got criticized for being forced, with many players thinking the romance was unnecessary.
- She's responsible for the infamous scene where she kisses Sonic to revive him, which has received criticism for being creepy, due to not only the interspecies aspect, but also Sonic being dead at that point.
- And just because she revived and saved his life and he thanked her for it, it was still her fault that Sonic died in the first place. The kiss was so bad that fans wished that it should be Amy Rose kissing and reviving him.
- It’s implied that during the events of both Sonic Generations and Shadow Generations, the Time Eater had erased Princess Elise and all of Soleanna from existence. And while Sonic and Shadow still remembered the events of the game they were involved in (with, to the extent, Blaze having somewhat blurry ideas of what happened there as she mentions that it's been a while since she's been at Crisis City), they still haven’t even mentioned her later on, which was satisfying to be implied, since she and her people have all deserved to be removed from existence for all the criticisms they received, as well as being the biggest mistakes that Sega had ever made.
- While Big the Cat does somewhat mentioned about meeting a princess during his search for Froggy and saying how nice she is, that's only because Big is a good-natured cat, not to mention that he wasn't around at the events of Sonic ‘06.
- As for the princess Big mentioned about meeting, it may not actually be Elise, but rather a different one, whose character might be instead a Likability Scaling Purgatory, due to his memory being limited at that time.
