Pierre is one of the major NPCs in Stardew Valley, owning a general store in Pelican Town of the titular valley. He has a rivalry with the local Joja-Mart due to their success seemingly siphoning customers from his shop. He is married to Caroline, and is the (implied non-biological) father of Abigail.
What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]
- He cares about money more than anything else, frequently expressing dismay whenever he can't make any sales or isn't running his shop. Even in an event that most other characters see as cataclysmic and react with concern for their loved ones' wellbeings, Pierre is only worried about his lack of customers.
- His obsession with running his shop results in him neglecting his family, Caroline in particular mentioning she wishes Pierre would spend more time with her.
- He re-sells what the player sells him to the other residents of Pelican Town claiming that he grew or found them himself, stealing the player's credit. For comparison, Willy says fish the player sells him were caught by them, and Gus proudly states that his omelet was created using eggs the player gave to him.
- While he claims that his business is struggling, it's clear he has more than enough money to spend on the player's items, capable of showering them in tens of thousands of gold.
- If the player sells him a consumable item, he will sometimes feed it to his family, even if it were an item that provides no energy or is too small to feed three people, like a drop of sap.
- He seems to have a casually misogynistic outlook, calling his daughter's monster fighting dreams "not lady-like", and relegating kitchen work to her and his wife, which she calls him out on. Unlike George, who is initially homophobic, but admits he was wrong if you are a male farmer and marry his grandson, Pierre never changes or grows from this mindset.
- While he claims to oppose Joja-Mart due to their negative impact on Pelican Town, he has dreams of becoming a head of a mega-corporation himself, meaning he only hates them for being competition.
- He is a sore loser. If he is beaten in the Stardew Valley Faire grunge display contest, he will seethe about it for days after.
- Inversely, if he wins the contest, he will rub it in the player's face and gloat about how good it feels to be on top.
- If the player owns a phone, he will send them spam-calls advertising his shop.
- He also will send mail advertising his shop, even on Wednesday when his shop is closed.

- There exists a subreddit dedicated to hatred of Pierre, which currently has over 80 thousand members as of this writing.
- Ironically, his counterpart Morris who runs the local Joja-Mart, who was likely written to be hated, is much better received by the fan bass instead of Pierre. This is likely because Morris is only shown being mean to Pierre, and since Morris is rather one-dimensional, it allows fans to create material where Morris is shown in a much more sympathetic light.
