Parker Cerise is a major antagonist/protagonist of the crossover fanfiction Infinity Train: Blossoming Trail.
He is the young brother of Chloe Cerise, who was close to her and knew about many secrets, specially her bullying. After discovering about her disappearance, he decided to improve the city before her return with some help of his family and the Alolan champion Ash Ketchum, but he started to drift his goals for revenge and carthasis.
What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]
- While he started as a fairly typically divisive character who had his defenders and detractors, he truly fell into the pool of the hated during the Cyan Desert Arc and especially afterwards where he was seen by many as lacking remorseful and being subjected to character shilling and needless soft-handedness.
- Unlike other characters, Parker is an unhelpful brat with a dangerously volatile temper, who never takes responsibility for his actions and enjoys hurting people to feel good about himself.
- Although he has a sympathetic backstory of losing his sister to the Infinity Train, with her later sending a message that she will return there if her life stay the same, driving him to use the Unown when her main bully Sara wasn't remorseful, and then decide ro use his new powers to make everyone pay with UnChloe's help, the readership finds him unintentionally unsympathetic because he also targeted people who didn't deserve any punishment (Ash, Pikachu), were trying to help (Trip), and even didn't have anything to do with the situation (Serena) by subjecting them to brainwashing. He lost all sympathy when he didn't feel any remorse for destroying Goh's sanity, to the point he was sent to a Suicide Ward, with his "Nightmare Therapy".
- His redemption feels completely forced as he is far too horrible to be forgiven, and not receiving a proper punishment, with the damage he has done cannot be brought back. He even got away with shaming the same children he has personally victimized during his judgement.
- Even when he was written out of the story in the sequel, any mention of Parker draws in anger from the readership who request a desire to see him hurt, and his focus chapter in Branching Paths got far fewer responses than Chloe, Ash, or Goh.
- Due to how much the original author always gives him too many impprtant roles, especially in "Seeker of Crocus", he is considered a Creator's Pet by his detractors.
- While the crossover fanverse is controversial due to how it handles the Pokémon side of the crossover, Parker still stands out as the most hated character from the fanverse, with other characters being either divisive or fairly-liked.
Trivia[]
- Coincidentally, he shares many similarities with another Pokémon Scrappy, the anime adaptation of Faba, as they are both adaptational Scrappies whose redemptions felt forced considering the weight of their actions.
- Both him and the "Seeker of Crocus" incarnation of Chloe Cerise are the only Scrappies from the Infinity Train: Blossomverse.
