Paris Franz is the secondary antagonist of the 2016 DC animated film, Batman: The Killing Joke.
He is a narcissistic mobster and Batgirl's archenemy who goes on a crime spree across Gotham in his quest to usurp his uncle and force Batgirl's attention.
He was voiced by Maury Sterling.
What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]
- He received criticisms for having being bland, since his personality and gimmicks are that of a stereotypical mobster. Many fans also pointed out that many villains in Batman’s rogue gallery already fill this archetype, arguing they could have used one of them in his place.
- Related to this, many comic fans criticized the usage of a completely original character due to Batman's rogue’s gallery being very large.
- Fans dislike how he essentially acted as the main villain and gained a significant amount of screentime for the first part of the movie before the titular Batman or Joker despite having little to no influence on the actual story. This makes him one of the main reasons for why the first act of the movie receives many criticisms from viewers.
- His misogynistic behavior and criminal actions also received criticism as being annoying due to being over the top and not contributing to the plot.
- Another criticism he received is that his bland personality made him difficult to take seriously as a threat for many viewers. Even his name has been criticized as being out of place in a movie meant to be dark.
