Otto Heckel is a supporting character in the manga and anime series Monster. He is a petty thief who becomes an ally of Dr. Tenma and helps him while he's on the run.

He was voiced by Yoshito Yasuhara in Japanese and Doug Erholtz in the English dub,

What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]

He's an amoral criminal who is mostly out for himself and has little care for others. Though he does sometimes help Tenma it's usually because he thinks he can profit from it.
He has little point in the story other than to break up the tension with forced comic relief, which often isn't that funny.
He's a coward and will leave his allies to save his own skin.
He doesn't care about saving the Turkish district from being burned and prioritizes stealing an expensive rug out of greed.
Despite having few redeeming traits, he survives the entire series while many better-liked characters do not, making him a Karma Houdini.
