Nina Locke is one of the major characters in the 2020 Netflix series Locke & Key. The family matriarch of the Locke Family, Nina moves her family into Key House after her husband was murdered by Sam Lesser.

What Makes Her a Scrappy?

• While the narrative attempts to paint her as a remorseful parent who's trying to repair the broken relationship with her children, many of the audience were very frustrated at how neglectful Nina acted towards her children, even when she was sober.
• Nina has a tendency to smile at the most inappropriate times.
• Even though it's explained that the older you get, the less likely you remember the keys, this didn't stop the viewers from expressing audience at the Nina being left in the dark about everything that happened in the plotline. This is made even worse in season 2 when the memory key is first revealed and the Locke siblings don't use it to fill Nina in on what was happening.
• Despite the danger the Locke family is in, Nina still insists on opening unknown doors.
• Nina briefly turns to drinking during an incident involving Sam Lesser and Dodge attacking Keyhouse Manor.
• To further highlight Nina's irresponsibility as a parent, the first thing she does when Bode uses the Memory Key on her is accidentally lock Bode in a snow globe.
