“ | We appreciate your concern, Stephen, but it's not the Scarlet Witch that we fear. From our experience, the greatest danger to the Multiverse, it turns out, is Doctor Strange. | „ |

~ Mr. Fantastic’s infamous quote where he gives away Black Bolt’s ability. |
Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic, is a minor character in the 2022 film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
He was a "brilliant" scientist who gained the superhuman ability to stretch his limbs and torso, and became the leader of the Fantastic Four. Richards later became a member of the Illuminati to fight against Thanos, and later witnessed the execution of Supreme Strange following the Titan's death. When an alternate version of Strange appeared on Earth-838, Mr. Fantastic appeared for his trial until the arrival of Scarlet Witch, who proceeded to kill Richards and his teammates.
He was portrayed by John Krasinski.
What Makes Him A Scrappy?[]
- Despite his well-acclaimed acting, many fans believed that Mr. Fantastic lacked the charisma and charm his original counterpart had, thus making him much less sympathetic than intended.
- He never moves on from his paranoia against his world's Doctor Strange, treating the Earth-199999 version as a prisoner in spite of not knowing what bad things he did to the Multiverse. Even then, Earth-838 Stephen showed a lot of remorse for his crimes and genuinely wanted to atone for them, yet Mr. Fantastic and the Illuminati still decided to execute him.
- A few think he was too soft towards Wanda, still being able to show empathy towards her and underestimating her threatening demeanor in spite of her lashing her anger out on people that had nothing to do with her problems. This is also a bit hypocritical since he hates Earth-199999 Strange, who had more understandable intentions, unlike Wanda.
- Instead of figuring out a plan with the Illuminati to subdue Wanda, he doesn't consult with them and instead tries to calm her down without empathizing with her. This would shortly cause the Illuminati's downfall.
- Many fans thought him telling Wanda about Black Bolt's powers was a ridiculously shortsighted move, because this allowed Wanda to seal his mouth with her magic so that his voice can blow up his head instead, causing him to lose all leverage against Wanda. Had he not done that, Wanda wouldn't have likely annihilated the Illuminati. (Though to be fair, although he gave away Black Bolt's weakness, Mr Fantastic in the comics has way more knowledge in science rather than magic to the point of dismissing it as something that doesn't exist, even when surrounded by obvious magical beings. so it's not that far-fetched to say that he didn't know the true extent of Wanda's power if he was somewhat faithful to the source material.)
- Furthermore, one whisper from Black Bolt’s mouth would have likely caused massive damage beyond Wanda herself and endangered them.
- While his demise was supposed to be sad and horrifying, his stupidity makes it seem like he had it coming.
- His death made absolutely no sense to the viewers because it's not explained as to how he was able to be turned into spaghetti.
- Overall, many fans believe that he's just filler and that his only purpose was to boost ratings for Disney through nostalgia from previous shows, which carried on from many MCU installments released afterwards.
