He abandoned his friends and never came back. Not only does this make him come off as a jerk, but it also prevents him from acting as a team leader.
His backstory is incredibly stupid. He presents a teleportation device for a science fair, but the judge assumes it's magic and disqualifies him from the competition. He's then recruited by an employee from the Baxter Foundation, who just happened to be there.
He somehow has the ability to shapeshift despite Mr. Fantastic never having that ability.
He and Sue have no chemistry and are a very unconvincing couple.
He fails to recognize that Doom was manipulating him, making him look like a complete fool.
Like the rest of the team. his design in awful. Not only is his outfit just a black military suit, but he doesn't even have the iconic white hair streaks of his comic counterpart.
He's partially responsible for the infamous "say that again" scene at the end of the film.

He and the Earth-838 version of Mr. Fantastic are the only versions of the character to be Scrappies. Coincidentally, both from live-action films.
