What Makes Them Scrappies?[]
- Their main criticism is their flat characterization, which consist of complaining about things they consider normal (which is also seen as annoying by some viewers). The criticism also noticed how they have Lucy and Haiku’s main characteristic without the other elements of their personality that are liked by most fans of the series.
- They are the cause or focus of episodes revolving around the supernatural, where they are either the cause or called to solve the problem. This is seen by many as jumping the shark for the show as the supernatural elements are seen by a part of the audience as clashing with the show’s relatable themes and setting.
- They’re criticized for not having much chemistry with Lucy and Haiku.
- They’re also criticized for taking too screen-time from other characters (like Lincoln) in later seasons.
Trivia[]
- Interestingly, they are friends with Haiku, who is an Ensemble Darkhorse.
- They were not considered Scrappies in their first appeared, as they were just gag characters who scared Lincoln and Clyde, and didn’t receive particular criticisms.
