Morrigan Aensland is a character from Darkstalkers. Although she is the main protagonist in the original games, the UDON comic adaptation of Darkstalkers portrays Morrigan as a villainous character with many evil traits and actions, this portrayal of Morrigan is confirmed non-canonical by Capcom (along the UDON comics in general).
What Makes Her a Scrappy?[]
- This adaptation of Morrigan is very out of character compared to her game counterpart. While her game counterpart gets her nourishment from enjoyment and, while anti-heroic, is friendly for a succubus. Meanwhile, this version of the character is a remorseless murderer and rapist who has no problems with draining innocent souls and shows no empathy for anyone, save for her servants and father.
- While the narrative gives her moments of sympathy, such as the death of her father, it ultimately falls flat given her depiction as a monster who takes innocent lives for her amusement.
- She gets away with all her crimes, which makes the above points much worse.
- Setting the out of character villainous depiction aside, she's also simply very bland. While the original Morrigan was an interesting and charismatic character, this version is a generic, uncharismatic and boring 'evil succubus' character who does little to none to break away from the worst excesses of the character archetype.
Trivia[]
- This version of Morrigan, alongside the UDON version of Lilith and Harry Grimoire, is one of the only characters in the Darkstalkers franchise that counts as a Scrappy.
