They took my son!
~ Michael after Walt is kidnapped.

Michael Dawson is one of the protagonists of the series Lost. He is the father of Walt Lloyd and one of the survivors of Flight 815, and is stranded with his son on a mysterious island. He at first tries to work with the other survivors to get off the island, but begins acting erratically after Walt is kidnapped, and betrays the survivors to the Others.

He was played by Harold Perrineau.

What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]

  • He's antagonistic to Locke out of jealousy that Walt has bonded with him, even threatening to murder Locke simply for talking to Walt.
  • He unfairly accuses Jin of burning the raft and beats him up.
  • While he was fairly well-liked in the first season, he becomes much more irrational and selfish after Walt is kidnapped. He becomes totally fixated on getting Walt back with no regard for anyone else's needs. He also rants about Walt's abduction constantly with his dialogue being very repetitive, which many fans found extremely annoying.
    • His constant shouting of Walt's name even became a meme due to how annoying it was.
  • He refuses to listen to the other survivors who try to assure him that they'll find a way to help Walt, and tricks Locke into giving him a gun before knocking him out and locking him and Jack in the gun vault, before running off on his own, which gets him captured by the Others.
  • He betrays the survivors by making a deal with the Others in exchange for getting off the island with Walt.
  • He murders Ana Lucia and Libby in order to free Ben. To make this worse, while he shot Libby impulsively, when Hurley confronts him about it he indicates that he would still have killed her even if he had time to think.
  • He manipulates Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley into coming with him on a supposed mission to rescue Walt, when he actually leads them into a trap, getting them captured by the Others.
  • Following his betrayal, he simply leaves the island with Walt, leaving Jack, Kate, and Sawyer at the Others' mercy.
  • While he gets a redemption arc in Season 4 and sacrifices himself to save the other survivors, he is still largely hated by the fanbase.
