Melissa Duck is the deuteragonist of the 1952 Robert McKimson cartoon The Super Snooper. She is Daffy Duck's ex-girlfriend.
What Makes Her a Scrappy?[]
- She is unwilling to participate in the case of the murder and constantly tries to seduce Duck Drake, even showering him with kisses, though he is clearly not interested in her.
- It turns out that Daffy is in the wrong house, and that supposed crime is never solved. He was called to examine the Axe Handle Estate, which is revealed to be a couple of blocks up the street, so naturally this would raise some eyebrows.
- She is another wasted love interest for Daffy, seeing that he is shown to have a wife his species in other cartoons before and after this one.
- Apart from Daffy having a rather ugly design, it also shows that the Robert McKimson Daffy Duck cartoons were rather inconsistent with their designs for Melissa, as she was redesigned as a complete floozy in McKimson's "Muscle Tussle" the following year.
- In hindsight, it makes sense that she would say she's guilty of being crazy about Daffy, as harassment is technically a crime and can be reported to the police.
- The literal "ball and chain" look in her eyes shows that she is just as creepy as your typical yandere.
- The train track gag featured is ultimately what makes this short one of the worst Daffy Duck cartoons of all time, aside from being a Robert McKimson short.
Trivia[]
- This version of Melissa Duck resembles Jessica Rabbit from the 1988 movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
