Marco Pasternak is the deuteragonist of the Slippin' Jimmy animated series. Throughout the episodes, he, alongside his best friend Jimmy, goes on various misadventures.
He was voiced by Kyle S. More.
What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]
- Although a minor yet pivotal character in Better Call Saul whose friendship and demise is tragic, he is a completely flat and boring supporting protagonist in Slippin' Jimmy. His personality consists of generic loyalty and kindness; when combined with his goals assisting Jimmy, drive no conflicts with both characters.
- His design, like Jimmy's, is generic, rushed, and ugly, to the point where they look advertised rather than genuine.
- At the end of the third episode, before they buy the comic, he proclaims "this night was the best one I've ever had in my life!" before coming inside. Not only does this line make a terrible reference to his death in Better Call Saul, but is also executed generic enthusiasm.
- He and Jimmy go on ridiculous, bland, and often both, misadventures that misses the point of the show. Examples include:
- Engaging in a snowball fight which he and Jimmy predictably win in the end, because they are protagonists.
- Trying to escape detention while dealing with the detention monitor being a demon from Hell.
- Sneaking out at night (which the aforementioned episode also mentions his death) to buy a comic book while a taxi driver (who is also a pirate) tries to kill them.
- Assisting Jimmy to ask a crush out to a dance.
- While he gets meaningful conflict with Jimmy in summer camp in the last episode, having completely different characterizations and arguing with each other, Jimmy ruins it by taking the fall for no reason, causing Marco to once again be the generic friend.
- Like Jimmy, he only pulls off a single con in the last episode, defeating the potential for Jimmy's and his origin backstories.
