What failed with the character?	Being a Hate Sink that is so cartoonishly evil without much substance. The characters of the show were turned into morons to make him seem like an actual threat. Him being defeated by Mike pressing a button to rid himself of his alters is an extremely inaccurate and poorly written portrayal of Dissociative identity disorder (DID).
Saving Graces	Has a few comedic moments. Him causing Alejandro and Courtney's eliminations can be satisfying. The chaos he causes can be fun sometimes. His voice is cool and menacing.

	~ Mal explains that the contestants won't know about his plans, only because he has the script on his side.

Mal is the main antagonist of Total Drama: All Star. He is the malevolent alter-ego of Mike that was long-repressed after he was sent to juvenile detention.

He was voiced by Cory Doran.

What Makes Him A Scrappy?

• His entire character is meant to be a portrayal of a cartoonishly evil character who wants to do everything for the evulz rather than a complex and well-written example of an alter through his relationship with Mike.
• He was constantly given plot-armor because the writers had to make the rest of the cast members seem like idiots (especially Zoey, Cameron, and even Alejandro, who is a professional manipulator) when there were numerous periods of time in which he could have easily been caught pretending to be Mike (the dark spots underneath his eyes could have easily given him away as well).
  • Even in an unfunny way, they make other characters and even animals afraid of him in a poor attempt to make him seem intimidating.
• Although he was meant to be hated, he was hated not for his detestable qualities, but for being edgy and poorly written.
• His defeat is completely anti-climatic and downright insulting to people with Dissociative identity disorder, being defeated by just the press of a button in his mind that deleted the rest of Mike's alters, which is in itself, an offensive and inaccurate portrayal of DID as it doesn't just go away.
• While he sometimes gets comedic moments, it doesn't change how he negatively influences the development of more interesting cast members, like the aforementioned Zoey, Cameron, and Alejandro, as well as negatively impact the show overall. Thus, he still is able to qualify as a Scrappy.
