~ The infamous line coming from the trailer of the movie. |
Cassandra Webb, also known as Madame Web, is the titular main protagonist of the infamous 2024 critically panned superhero movie Madame Web.
She is a New York City Fire Department paramedic who developed precognitive powers. With these powers, she protected three young women named Julia Cornwall, Mattie Franklin and Anya Corazon from Ezekiel Sims as Madame Web.
She was portrayed by Dakota Johnson.
What Makes Her A Scrappy?[]
- Dakota Johnson's acting is already not so good, as most of her lines were done in a monotone and flat voice.
- Despite the fact that she's the hero of the story, it is contradicted from the start when she's shown to be rude and dismissive to colleagues and seems to be utterly uninterested in the patients she saves as a paramedic (even reacting with confusion when a nurse tells her the patient they brought in will live).
- When she's forced into saving three teenage girls, she acts very cold hearted and irritable towards them, to the point where she leaves them in the woods for three hours just to go ruffle through some notes. When she rescues them after the diner incident, the only thing she has to say to them is that they only care about themselves, never mind what she just did for the past few hours.
- The scene where she confronts Ezekiel Sims and learns of his plans comes out of nowhere and isn't fully explained other than plot convenience.
- Although Madame Web is the title, Cassandra was never referred as such and only becomes the titular hero at the end of the movie, just as how the three girls had only become superheroes in Ezekiel's vision.
- There is one particularly infamous line coming from the trailer of the movie, which is Cassandra saying about how Ezekiel killed her mother at the Amazon rainforest. Not only the said line was never in the actual movie, but it also spelled out the whole plot of the movie.
- She cracks a joke about Peter's parents dying and Ben having to raise him, which fans consider to be extremely cruel.
- While the Sony Marvel Movies aren't particularly praised, they have at least produced some well like characters (Venom, Anne Weying, and to a lesser extent Morbius). Cassandra does not fall under this category, and is in fact considered one of the flattest characters these movies have ever produced.
Trivia[]
- To cement her status as a Scrappy, even Dakota Johnson was not surprised by the film's negative reception, and stated in interviews that she not only unlikely will play another superhero after Madame Web, but also admitted she hated playing the character. She even fired her agent after the production of the movie.
