Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, better known as Lady Gaga, is the titular deuteragonist of the infamous The Simpsons episode "Lisa Goes Gaga".
She was voiced by her real-life counterpart, who also portrayed Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux.
What Makes Her a Scrappy?[]
- Fans felt the writers were afraid to do anything that could offend Lady Gaga. While The Simpsons is no stranger to celebrity cameos, most of them were able poke fun at the celebrities. Here, the only humor that comes with the character are frankly flat jokes about her outfits. They even announce her accomplishments when she first appears on screen. It feels as if the writers are constantly groveling at Gaga's feet.
- Furthermore, she's seen as a massive Mary Sue and is beloved by literally everyone in Springfield.
- Fans hated the fact that she had to cheer up Lisa, as the latter is seen as the most optimistic season and the one who usually picked her family up when they're down. Having Lisa be sad felt like an extremely contrived reason to bring Gaga into the episode.
- Fans also hated how she stole the spotlight from Lisa. Lisa is a major character whose name is in the title of the episode, but here she's constantly overshadowed by Gaga.
- Like the rest of the season, she's considered incredibly unfunny.
- Many fans criticized the train she rides in on, saying it looked incredibly stupid.
- She's shown to have psychic powers that could sense when people are sad, which fans believe did not make sense. Not only did Gaga obviously not have these powers in real life, but every other character is an average human with no magical abilities.
- At one point, she kissed Marge. Not only was this seen as shameless trailer-bait that served no real purpose and came out of absolutely nowhere, but it is also sexual assault.
- Fans thought she was being inconsiderate towards Lisa, saying that she should have left Lisa alone like she wanted instead of trying to force her to feel better.
- The scene where she cried after Lisa yelled at her did not give her any sympathy from fans, as they thought she deserved it for the way she treated Lisa.
- Some fans believed that she's not at all the perfect human being the episode made her out to be, saying she was only nice to Lisa to boost her own image. Gaga is obviously never called out for this.
- She's the main reason why "Lisa Goes Gaga" is considered the single worst episode in the entire show, as most of the problems unsurprisingly come from Gaga herself.
