Kris Waterson is the deutratagonist of the 2019 remake of the 1974 slasher film, Black Christmas.
She is Riley's best friend who tries to fight sexism and racism at her high school before saving Riley and the sorority from a cult of Frat Boys.
She was portrayed by Aleyse Shannon.
What Makes Her a Scrappy?[]
- She, like other elements of the remake, has no connection to the original slasher film, which didn’t sit well with fans.
- She spends the entire movie trying to stand up for women, but the way she goes about it is accusing almost every man she meets as being sexist or racist.
- She has a bust of the school founder and a professor at her school removed for being offensive, completely ignoring the time period for the former and the context of what the latter was teaching.
- She spends most of her time with the other sorority sisters using their friendship to make them agree with her.
- She admits that she steals from her father, which is also the only hint at a backstory we get of her.
- During the talent show, she gaslights Riley into singing about her rape to inspire other women and later posts the song online without asking her.
- When Nate confronts her and says that not all men are bad, Kris refuses to listen and kicks him out.
- She has a moment of inconsistency where she tries to run away from the cult, despite spending the entire film saying that they should fight and has to be convinced to go back.
