Kio Asuno is one of the three main protagonists of the 2011 anime, Mobile Suit Gundam AGE.
He is the grandson of the first protagonist, Flit, and the son of the second protagonist, Asemu, and like them, he grows up to become a pilot, specifically piloting AGE-3 Gundam AGE-3 Normal. Unlike his family, Kio intends on making a peaceful end between the Vagans and Earth.
He was voiced by Kazutomi Yamamoto in Japanese and Gloria Ansell in English.
What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]
- He is an irresponsible person who constantly rushes into battle without planning, which in turn causes him to almost lose his battles.
- He constantly talks about and tries to achieve peace with the Vagans, despite the fact that they have frequently slaughtered dozens of people while ignoring the negotiations. It gets to the point where not only do his allies confront him about it, but even the Vagans talk down on him for his insistence.
- Although he insists on achieving a peaceful solution to the conflict, he rarely shows interest in his fellow allies and instead puts him and his allies in danger to ensure the Vagans can live.
- He makes several dumb decisions, such as willingly giving Exzelcant the AGE-3's specs despite it being obvious that he needed them for malicious purposes.
- Despite his constant pleas for pacifism, he isn’t afraid to badmouth anyone who doesn’t share his views, including his own grandfather, despite said grandfather having one of the better reasons to hate the Vagans.
- Despite being praised for being a talented pilot by the other characters, his actual piloting skills are less than impressive, as he relies heavily on his X-Rounder abilities and allies to actually win a battle, as seen during the battle with the Dark Hound.
