Kevin Shepherd is the protagonist from Bigger Fatter Liar.

What Makes Him A Scrappy?[]

  • He is an imitation of Jason Shepherd, rather than being a contrasting protagonist.
  • He comes across as a designated hero, as opposed to Jason Shepherd, who, while a liar at first, decides that he’s going to tell the truth and that the truth is not overrated. (While Jason also plays pranks on Marty, he only does so after he destroys his paper.)
  • While he is friends with Becca, he doesn't seem to care about anyone but her and himself.
  • He puts a Handicapped sign on a parking space so he can have it all for himself.
  • While his father acted abusive to him by not letting him ride his car to school (and depriving him of internet, which he could use for his school project), he did not act abusive to him otherwise, and Kevin did decide to plagiarize a paper. And Kevin could have still used the word processor because word processors do not require internet contrary to what the writers think.
  • He comes across as a hypocrite, as while he plagiarizes a paper, he decides to pull a set of humiliating pranks on Larry Wolf on him for doing the same to him. Furthermore, his means of proving that he is truthful to his father involve lying and stealing, as Becca herself notes.
  • One can say that his pranks come across as mean-spirited compared to Jason’s, which were legitimately funny, and one of his pranks involves framing Larry for conspiracy to rob a bank, which is something that could have gotten Larry behind bars.
  • Another one of his pranks at Larry’s expense is played for laughs, but giving someone sleeping pills when they are about to use a treadmill is dangerous. And, Larry is implied to be a fairly old man, which would make the prank even more dangerous.
  • While giving Larry ridiculously spicy peppers could have been funny, Larry ends up in the hospital because of it, so Larry can be considered unintentionally sympathetic. Plus, he discovers that Kevin had spent his entire credit card; in other words, Kevin committed credit card fraud.
  • While Larry refused to honor his bargain with Kevin, one could justify it due to all the grief that he caused him, so it doesn’t really help make Kevin sympathetic.
  • Furthermore, Kevin makes Larry believe his life is in danger when the car he is in is supposedly about to be hit by a train.
  • He is a big part of why Bigger Fatter Liar is considered to be a bad movie, though he’s not necessarily the only reason.
  • Overall, he faces no repercussions for putting Larry through hellish treatment and making his life miserable; as a result, he got the royal treatment in the end.
