~ Kenny revealing his true nature to SpongeBob. |
“ | How could you Kenny? You broke my heart. Here I was this entire time believing your act, only to discover that it was nothing but a...an act! | „ |
~ SpongeBob rightfully calling out Kenny for his actions. |
Kenny the Cat is the titular main antagonist of the SpongeBob SquarePants episode of the same name.
He was voiced by the late Biz Markie.
What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]
- He was nothing more than just a fraud who faked his accomplishments, while this may make him appear as a hate sink, the episode itself tries to paint him in the right with him justifying his facade because he had a dream and this is meant to be played for sympathy only for it to fall flat, he also has a seemingly genuine friendship with SpongeBob.
- His design looks awful and not appealing in the slightest and just looks like Tom the cat on drugs.
- Even though SpongeBob was rightfully horrified from his true nature, he manipulates him with a sob story and crying into keeping his secret, as mentioned before, he justifies his lie by saying that he had a dream where he was famous and made others happy while in reality, he is just an egotist who wants attention. It doesn't help with as mentioned before the episode itself also tries to make him likable and sympathetic and trying to paint him in the right and make Sandy appear as the villain for trying to expose him despite the fact it is the opposite.
- He (seemingly) remorselessly puts his fans lives at risk as in scenes, there are kids holding their breath and falling unconscious due to being inspired by him, this also implies some of his fans accidentally could've suffocated themselves to death which if one thinks of him this way, it makes him even more unlikable and worse.
- Overall, he was just an attention hungry egotist who only manipulated SpongeBob and didn't genuinely care for him and only viewed him as a pawn to help him prosper.
- He did get some comeuppance by Sandy exposing him, it was very satisfying to say the least.
