Kayla Judith Forester is the main protagonist of the critically panned 2021 computer-generated live-action hybrid film Tom & Jerry, which is based on the Tom and Jerry franchise.
She is an employee of the Royal Gate Hotel who hired Tom to get rid of Jerry.
She was portrayed by Chloë Grace Moretz.
What Makes Her a Scrappy?[]
- She is a very boring character, with her sole personality trait being that she likes the Royal Gate Hotel.
- While the franchise has had many human characters, they were mostly plot devices to further Tom and Jerry's antics. Here, Kayla is the main character while Tom and Jerry are sidelined. When they did have large roles, they were at least more interesting than Kayla.
- The only reason she got her job was because she stole the identity of a more qualified candidate, Linda Parabottom. Even though she is later called out for this and admits it was wrong, she never receives any true punishment.
- Like the other humans, she can't physically interact with the animal characters because they aren't on set. This makes every scene where she interacts with an animal stunted and unconvincing.
- She doesn't fit in the world of Tom and Jerry, as she's a boring business woman with no cartoonish traits.
- After pathetically failing to catch Jerry, she hires Tom, a random stray cat she just met. This is extremely contrived and makes her look like a fool.
- Chloë Grace Moretz's performance as the character is awful, and she fumbles every line.
- While none of the human characters in the film were well-received, Kayla has a dedicated hatedom due to how much she steals the spotlight from Tom and Jerry.
- The overreliance on Kayla was the main reason Tom & Jerry was as hated as it was.
