Kanon Nakajima is the deuteragonist of the Danganronpa spin-off light novel Ultra Despair Hagakure. She and Yasuhiro try to work together to try and survive the dangers of Towa City.
What Makes Her A Scrappy?[]
- To get the elephant out of the room, she's madly in love with her cousin, Leon Kuwata. This is creepy and incestuous, disregarding how she's confessed 3,909 times to him in ten years, meaning she must've done it more than once a day per decade.
- Adding to her creepiness, she has apparently stalked Leon while he was with other women. This is the sole reason she has physical strength, she needed to catch up with Leon and the women he was either hanging out with or dating, so she trained to be faster and stronger.
- Her weird ramblings about her incestuous love distracts from the plot and Yasuhiro, the actual main character of the novel.
- While Yasuhiro isn't exactly the most popular character, this novel and the anime are the only reasons he himself isn't also a Scrappy as he was legitimately good in both. Therefore, she steals the spotlight from an actually improved version of a previously universally despised character.
- The extent of her personality is "incestuous". Basically all facets of her personality come from her love for Leon, making her writing incredibly lazy. The entirety of her self-esteem is based around if her cousin is in love with her in return.
- Her entire design stems from the fact that Leon once said a gyaru girl in a magazine looked nice, so she desperately tried to emulate that style. Her entire character design is based around a one-off comment by Leon.
- She became enraged at the survivors of the killing game Leon died in for... voting to execute him, something they had to do in order to survive (granted, it's unknown how much of the Killing School Life she got to learn about). She then decided to kill all of them.
- She starts hysterically crying when Yasuhiro makes a single teasing joke. This is a massive overreaction on her part.
- While she forgives Yasuhiro for not dying, it comes off as incredibly petty, just because of how stupid it is a thing to want revenge for. Besides, it's not like her character's any more interesting, still obsessing over Leon every single second, even though he's long dead by now. Not to mention that she ONLY forgave Yasuhiro, not the other Future Foundation members.
- She never gets any punishment for trying to kill the Future Foundation for some of the pettiest reasons imaginable, making her a Karma Houdini.
- In short, she is so hated just because of every single aspect of her character is all about how she loves her older cousin, with her having some of the stupidest and pettiest motives of any character in the series.
Trivia[]
- Danganronpa fans tend to call her a female Haiji Towa despite their many differences due to both being creepy and Haiji himself is speculated to also have been incestuous.
