“ | When one considers an individual like the deceased, there is a temptation to try to know, and know definitively, why someone like Jeffrey Dahmer is what he is. Or was. I think there's a real danger there. There are no easy answers when it comes to someone like him. You'll never know why he did what he did. That's an uncomfortable truth, to be sure, but it's one you need to accept. | „ |

Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer is the titular main protagonist of Monsters: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story the first season of the biographical true crime-thriller anthology series Monster made by Netflix. He is a serial killer, rapist, child molester, and cannibal who is an adaptation of the real life serial killer and sex offender of the same name.
He was portrayed by Evan Peters.
What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]
- Many fans hate that they tried to give a rapist a tragic backstory to make him sympathetic which failed horribly, as not only is he a rapist, but he is also a murderer, child molester, cannibal, and is directly based off a real-life serial killer and sex offender who horrifically murdered many innocent people.
- Many thing that trying to make Jeffrey sympathetic is incredibly insulting and offensive to the victims due to glorifying the serial murderer/rapist who horrifically took their loved ones from them.
- In fact, the families of the real-life Dahmer's victims reportedly recovered traumatic memories from their loved ones' murders after seeing the show. They also refused to give information about their family members to the creator Ryan Murphy during the production of the show, which is understandable considering that their real suffering and trauma would be used against their consent for publicity.
- He has some inaccurate points too like having blonde hair instead of black hair that the real Jeffrey Dahmer has and having his glasses on during his trial which he never had in real life due to not wanting to see the faces of his victims' families.
- Many felt that making another Jeffrey Dahmer movie was redundant as he already has plenty of movies made about him and his crimes are well-known by the general public; all it really does is potentially make the families of his victims relive their trauma.
- Overall, he is a poorly made adaptation of a real-life serial killer and sex offender.
Trivia[]
- Evan Peters claimed that Jeffrey Dahmer was the hardest role he had ever played in his entire life and sometimes even had to snapped out of character between takes.
- While this version of Dahmer is known to have fans, most of them are a misaimed fandom which consists of either hybristophiles who idolize the real Dahmer and his crimes or those only interested in him because they consider Evan Peters handsome, rather than genuinely feeling sympathy for the character.
