Jeannie is a character in the Tom and Jerry MGM shorts: Busy Buddies and Tot Watchers. She's an average teenage girl, babysitter and student who "babysits" George and Joan's baby.
She is voiced by the late Janet Waldo.
What Makes Her a Scrappy?[]
- She is a stereotypical 1950's teenage girl who spends most of her time talking on the phone to friends at school about their dates and her own activities.
- She is rather unintelligent, as she always thinks Tom is bothering little baby Ben, completely unaware that either he is chasing Jerry or the two are putting Ben back on the crib or carriage. She would hit him on the head with a broom afterward and tell her friend on the phone about the "mean cat" before resuming their chat.
- She is a massive jerk to Tom, mostly because she keeps hitting him with a broom whether he deserves it or not.
- She is not a good babysitter at all, because while Ben's parents are out, she regularly jabbers on the telephone instead of doing her job.
- In Tot Watchers however, she is even more neglectful towards Ben than she was in Busy Buddies, having not made a single attempt to look after Ben at all unlike last time.
- She also hits Tom even when he and Jerry are trying to keep Ben safe.
- She shows no gratitude towards Tom whatsoever whenever the latter helps look out for the child she neglects while she spends hours on the phone and often beats him over the head with whatever object is on hand.
- When Tom and Jerry both manage to bring Ben back home and put him in bed, she claims that the two were bothering Ben.
- She was never exposed as the terrible babysitter she is, nor was she ever punished or even called out for her neglectful behavior to Ben.
