Icardi is a supporting antagonist in Master Detective Archives: Rain Code. He was a member of the Resistance and the one who killed Shachi, and ended up getting exposed at the end of the game's third case.

He is voiced by Kentarō Itō in Japanese and Ezra Weisz (whom also voiced André Glacier and Nurari) in English.

What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]

  • Whilst he was meant to be hated for being traitorous and selfish, almost no player actually hates it for it, often hating on him for other reasons.
  • He is the most obvious culprit in the game. The moment they start talking about how Icardi can swim amazingly, and Servan has trauma about water, it became obvious that the swimming would be relevant, and considering the formula of previous cases, the fact that Icardi killed Shachi is basically staring the player right in the face.
  • The third case continues trends from Ace Attorney and Danganronpa, with the third case being widely considered the worst case (this is known as Third Case Syndrome, it was named by Ace Attorney fans but also was picked up in the Danganronpa fandom), and it's mainly because of him. Many fans believe that the prologue case should be numbered as the first case, so that Chapter 2, a beloved case, would be the third case instead.
  • His motive of killing Shachi to frame him for his terror attack scheme isn't explained with enough depth, making his motive for the actual murder case his chapter revolves around appear nonexistent.
  • His one personality trait after the reveal is "evil and bad person", which is shockingly little nuance considering we just had Yoshiko, Waruna, and Kurane, who it actually felt bad to kill because of how sympathetic they were. It would help the game's storyline to have a more sympathetic killer, as Yuma is beginning to doubt how good it is to expose the truth via the Mystery Labyrinths, considering it kills the culprit, but Icardi was thrown in instead to make players feel good when he died just to have some relief after the last case, which feels like pandering.
  • He and his case could be practically removed from the story, just keeping the Makoto scenes, and a difference is hardly made. The only bad part would be lack of focus on Fubuki throughout the game, and Fubuki is widely considered to be the primary redeeming quality of the third case.
  • His design just looks like if Kazuichi Soda was an elf and a swimmer. It's incredibly lazy and rehashed.
    • Speaking of which, his weird elf ears are never touched upon, making them a jarring addition to the design of his character.
  • The fact he was able to jump off an apartment building into a sewer grate and then swim all the way to another part of the city speaks for itself in how ridiculous it is.
