Hua Mulan is the main protagonist of the live action Disney movie remake of the same name, Mulan.
She is played by Liu Yifei.
What Makes Her A Scrappy?[]
- While she is still a heroic character, her personality was altered to be slightly meaner and distrusting of others.
- Her having supernatural powers since birth is seen as unnecessary and was virtually done for little reason.
- Infamously, the remake reduces Mulan into a complete Mary Sue. Just to highlight this she is pretty much perfect at everything from the start thanks to her supernatural powers, and even managed to survive a near fatal attack. This completely ruins Mulan's character arc in the first movie, as there she had to properly train to get better at fighting.
- Like the rest of the movie, she is completely serious and never has any fun moments, no in-universe musical scenes, making her an extremely bland and generic protagonist.
