Harvey Dent is an antagonist in Gotham by Gaslight. He was voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.
What Makes Him A Scrappy?[]
- While he wasn’t intended to be liked, the audience will most likely wonder why he gets away with everything he does, especially since the old woman who tried to blackmail Bruce did not.
- He eventually goes as far as to try to get Bruce Wayne sent to prison for life (if not the death penalty) despite knowing full well he’s innocent simply because he was jealous of Selina paying attention to him, even though he was already married. He also somehow knew about the pin that Bruce himself had found at the crime scene.
- While the other characters are considered faithful adaptations of their counterparts (Hugo Strange is a good man and Pamela Isley is not evil, but are still faithful otherwise), he is not considered to be to be a faithful adaptation, not least due to never being friends with Bruce.
- Additionally, he is a departure from the original Gaslight Harvey Dent as well, as Harvey Dent only prosecuted Bruce Wayne in that version after he was arrested instead of selling him out.
- Considering that the movie deals heavily with themes of discrimination against women (though Bruce points out that Jack might find it more difficult to do his work if he didn’t target poor women specifically), he can be considered a flat character designed for the simple purpose of making it easy to sympathize with Silena.
