Haruko Amaya is the main female protagonist of the Maken-Ki! series. She is the vice-president of the Student Council Security Division, a sophomore student at Tenbi Academy and the childhood friend of Takeru Ooyama who has been in love with him ever since they were children. Eventually, the two of them reunited when Takeru started to attend Tenbi after it went back to being co-ed.
She is voiced in Japanese by Noriko Shitaya, and by Monica Rial in the English dub.
What Makes Her a Scrappy?[]
- She's a typical tsundere who's unable to confess her feelings to Takeru despite being very obvious that she loves him, which is pretty annoying.
- While she deeply cares about Takeru, she can be outright abusive towards him even he's done nothing wrong. What's worse is that she's never called out on this, imposing a double standard.
- While it's justified for her to be mad at Takeru's perversions, there are times where she's a pervert as well, as shown when she gropes the other girls in her sleep when they were away on a summer trip. That aside, she takes things too far with her violence by assaulting him with her Maken Murakumo, which could have easily killed him.
- She also gets jealous too easily whenever other girls get close to Takeru, like Inaho, Himigami, and Syria.
- Although Takeru often brings it upon himself for his perversions, Haruko sometimes hurts him even though most of the times it was accidental.
- She never apologizes for anything bad she does to Takeru, even when he hasn't done anything perverted.
- Overall. she's a terrible example of a tsundere girl, being way too clingy to Takeru, and flat out treating him horribly, while never considering to confess that she loves him. Because of this, Fans massively hate her to the point where they wish that Takeru got together with his self-proclaimed fiancée Inaho, who's much nicer and treats him better than Haruko.
