Goth is the deuteragonist of the BlogTheGreatRouge's Undertale AU comic Nerd and Jock. He is a nerd and friend of the jock Palette who he rapes and tries to get him to forgive him.
What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]
- For starters, he was a rapist towards his best friend Pallete. Not only is this illogical given their already implied bond, but there is nothing that comes up to this moment, like abuse, manipulation, mental illness, brainwashing, etc.
- He tries to apologize to Pallete as if rape is forgivable (though thankfully he rejects the offer, however Pallete not forgiving Goth for what he did ends there as you will see later on). This part was supposed to make Pallete in the wrong, even though his reason why he rejected Goth's apology is completely logical and understandable.
- When Pallete rejects his apology, Goth then tries to kill himself by stabbing himself in the stomach with a knife, which is played for sympathy despite what he did prior, making it come off as if Goth used it to guilt-trip Pallette.
- When Pallete saw this and acts extremely worried Goth says to him that he "thought he wanted this" has an obvious guilt trip Pallete, who was raped by Goth, would later say that he secretly loved Goth and that he tried to stay loyal to their friendship but that it's hard because of how "dreamy" Goth is and said that he was happy to lose his virginity to him. After Pallete said that, Goth no longer wishes to die. This was also a clear attempt at making Goth sympathetic, but it falls completely flat.
- By the end of it, Pallete is "glad" that he got raped by Goth claiming that it made him feel "safer". This is completely horrible writing, and the exact opposite of what real post-rape effects are like. What makes it worse is that Pallete would claim what had happened before as being "all in the past", which is just disgusting and offensive to people who are rape victims in real-life.
- When Pallete goes to see Goth at the hospital, Pallete would call him his love and they would later become a couple for the rest of the comic which just comes straight out of nowhere and is just disgusting since before this Goth raped him.
- While he used to be liked, overtime he quickly became hated, once the demographic age of children grew older and realized how offensive the content is.
- His design has been criticized for making him look younger than he actually is.
- Overall, his work is criticized for how insensitively it handles sexual assault, treating it as comfortable and fetishistic while forgiving those who commit such a crime, which is obviously harmful towards real life victims and he overall has absolutely no redeemable qualities whatsoever.
Trivia[]
- He is hated for similar reasons to Monty de la Cruz, though while Monty was only given a sympathetic backstory, Goth's rape is glorified and fetishized.
- He, Fresh from Jammy's Love, Jasper/Vampireverse PaperJam, Killer, Jammy's Love Paperjam, PJ's Daycare's Paperjam, Little Jammy Hood's version of Fresh and Crying Sans are the only Undertale Fanon characters to be scrappies and by default the only Undertale scrappies.
- Ironically, all of them (except for Crying Sans who is from Nico's Nextbots) are from BlogTheGreatRouge, who is an infamous artist who used to be in the Undertale Fandom.
