Felix the Cat is the main antagonist of the 2019 metafictional YouTube video Rubber Hose Feud. He is an arrogant cartoon character who wants to prove that he is responsible for the origins of cartoons and animation in general, despite the fact that others bring up the fact that he is not completely original, but he instead brushes it off.
He is voiced by Samuel Meza.
What Makes Him A Scrappy?[]
- He is nothing much but an arrogant jerk who claims that he deserves more respect for being responsible for animation, making him come across as a desperate egotist who takes everything way too seriously, and brushes off any claims that he is not completely original.
- It could've been a creative concept to make Felix more cynical and rude than usual due to not having much attention, but the problem is that he is too arrogant, egotistical, and too much of a jerk to gain any sort of sympathy from the audience.
- He cannot handle criticism at all, due to the fact that he doesn't want to claim that he was inspired by any other things like Crazy Cat or Charlie Chaplin, despite the fact that they have been a crucial inspiration in the creation of the real Felix the cat, such as Crazy Cat's design serving as an inspiration for Felix's iconic look, and how Charlie Chaplin's personality was also a base ingredient in creating him.
- To add salt to an open wound, he does not at all credit any of his creators such as Pat Sullivan or Otto Messmer, which is just plain cruel and insulting to both of their legacies.
- He acts like every cartoon character in existence is just a clone of him, despite the fact that they were inspired by him, not plagiarized, making him a sore loser that cannot accept any sort of criticism as mentioned before.
- Other than that, the character can also serve as an anti-disney propagandist, saying that Disney had absolutely no original ideas at all to begin with and that Mickey's first appearance was also based off another property, which makes him incredibly hypocritical since he was inspired by Crazy Cat and Charlie Chaplin as mentioned above, and that Paramount Pictures (which was the company that created him) is not completely innocent either, as they have been accused of stealing other properties such as John Woodbridge's song Sans Vous, which was used for one of their shows called Winds of War.
- He makes fun of Mickey's video games by literally trashing them and calls the Kingdom Hearts series garbage saying that just because they sell really well doesn't mean they're good and compares the games' sales to the Minions movie, which not only makes no sense since they're incredibly different properties and forms of media, but is also an idiot move on his part since the games have been well-received by both critics and audiences, which makes his information stupid.
- Him getting beat up and arrested at the end of the video are not moments that make the audience have sympathy for him, but are rather well-deserved considering everything that is said above.
- He is pretty much one of the reasons why the video was not well received by many people.
