Floyd Lawton but best known as Deadshot is one out of four main characters of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the fifth installment set in the Batman Arkham universe. Deadshot is a member of the Suicide Squad orchestrated by Task Force X leader Amanda Waller. He alongside Harley Quinn, King Shark and Captain Boomerang would be tasked to kill all the brainwash Justice League and their mastermind Brainiac.
Deadshot is voiced by Bumper Robinson.
What Makes Him a Scrappy?[]
- While Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang are considered the most annoying and King Shark being the least detestable, Deadshot is one of the most boring members of the group. There are only few words that best describe Deadshot in this game: he's a dad and he's black. That is it and it’s pretty uneventful.
- Much like everyone else in this group, Deadshot does not change nor does he grow as a character, even with Wonder Woman’s death which the squad are devastated by, even though they literally no reason to be sad over her death because she (rightfully) treats them all like trash. And she doesn’t even try to save them minus the one time against Flash, who himself did more to save the squad and yet got pissed on. Yet despite that, the squad doesn’t seem to have any sort of problem in killing Wonder Woman’s closest allies like Batman and Superman.
- He constantly acts like he's better than everyone else, including his own teammates, which just gets aggravating overtime.
- One of his one-character traits consists of being a dad and doesn’t factor in that much, beside Green Lantern threatening harm upon Zoe. But that's the one instance of it. Deadshot is going to be cracking jokes with the rest of the squad even after that moment.
- On that note, his relationship with Zoe is very strained due to the fact that she hates it whenever he kills people. That being said, he's perfectly fine with killing the Justice League and not once does he stop to think over how his daughter would feel about him doing this. If anything, Zoe just hates him even more now.
- Deadshot also created one of the biggest plot holes of this game, as Deadshot in both Batman Arkham City and Batman Arkham Origins is establish as white, but Deadshot in this game is black. The reason for that was to line up with the black Deadshot Will Smith played in 2016 Suicide Squad movie. But changing the race of an already established character is not a good move. The universe explanation given for this is that the black Deadshot was the real one the whole time, while the one in the previous two games was a fake from Earth-2 all along. Not only is it lazy writing and an obvious retcon, but this also raised more questions than answers, such as where has the real Deadshot been through the entire of the Arkhamverse, or why was the fake Deadshot so successful for so many years that he didn’t cause any suspicion between anybody despite being supposedly the wrong race. And given that this fake Deadshot was around for Batman's entire career while the real has been active even longer before Batman show up, that's just straight up absurd.
- This massive plot hole was even turned into a gag. Like at the beginning of the game where Captain Boomerang said “Isn’t Deadshot supposed to be white?”
- Overall unlike other versions of Deadshot, such as his Injustice version, he has no interesting or cool qualities.
