What failed with the character?	He was meant to be a sympathetic voice of reason, but over time, he becomes more annoying, more obsessed with Sky, and a far-cry from how he was originally meant to be. He arguably suffers from the worst derailment in the entire series.

Dave is a minor antagonist for Total Drama's season 5.5, serving as the final antagonist of Total Drama: Pahkitew Island.

What makes him a Scrappy?

• While Dave was originally meant to be written as a character similar to Noah (especially in Ridonculous Race) as a logical, snarky "straight" guy, his progression ended badly as he went from "the normal one" with slightly annoying traits to becoming a completely pathetic "nice guy", being one of the worst derailments in the entire series.
  • To make his derailment worse, Noah fell in love in Ridonculous Race and his arc was written far better and shows new sides of Noah without derailing his or Emma's characters while Dave became the complete opposite of who he originally was.
• While he was meant to be sympathetic, he became irritating at best and outright hate-able at the worst.
• While he does have comedic moments, they get old really quickly (especially jokes involving his Mysophobia).
• His "love" for Sky is grossly obsessive, despite her rejecting him multiple times. Even when Sky did develop feelings for him, Dave greatly exaggerates her words and ignores her concerns. Even when Sky was going to break up with her boyfriend to go with Dave, the writers chose to ruin it again by having Chris reveal that Sky has a boyfriend.
  • What makes this worse is that he rejected Ella, who actually had a crush on him.
• His reason for voting himself off cements how annoying he is. Due to Sky rejecting him again, he (literally) campaigns for his opponents to eliminate him and votes for himself.
• In the season finale, Chris reveals that Sky has a boyfriend, causing Dave to completely snap, cementing how far Dave was derailed throughout the season as he is now bald and willing to kill Sky, which is a complete flip from how he originally was.
