The Scrappy Wiki

Crash and Eddie are major characters in the Ice Age franchise. They are possums who are Ellie's adoptive brothers, they were introduced in the second installment; The Meltdown and had remained as part of the Herd since then.

They are voiced by Seann William Scott and Josh Peck respectively, and by Vincent Tong and Aaron Harris in The Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild.

What Makes Them Scrappies?[]

  • They were considered unnecessary comic reliefs in a movie that already had the more well-liked Sid and Scrat. They are often seen as the point where the franchise's trend of adding unnecessary characters for the sake of merchandise began.
  • Their brand of humor consists mostly of potty humor and behaving like idiots, which can get on the nerves of most audiences.
  • Besides telling Manny about Ellie being trapped in a cave in the second movie they rarely add anything important to the plot of the movies or are of any help for the Herd. They also never get any significant development to make their appearances more amusing. Ironically they often treat Sid as useless, despite having a major record of saving the situation.
  • Despite their infamy, they had appeared in every single movie and special since their introduction. They also often get more focus than fan favorites, with only the fourth movie having the decency to demote them to extras (although they are demoted in favor of Peaches).
  • They are considerably more annoying in the Ice Age 2 video game than in the film, at one point flat out getting the walnut Scrat needs for passing to the next level and refusing to give it to him until he beats them in a rather hard digging mini-game.
  • Once Sid is kidnapped by Momma Dino in the third movie, they become the main source of comic relief in the main herd, making them briefly replacement Scrappies.
  • Audiences find them to most annoying in the fifth movie, as they have more dialogue than most of the other characters.
  • They participated in Manny's and Ellie's attempts to sabotage Peaches's and Julian's wedding and unlike the pair they are never called out for it.
  • They also made the infamous hashtags jokes in the same movie, which are considered the peak of the franchise trying too hard to remain relevant.
    • It should also be noted that the jokes are out of place with the setting of the franchise, since the term was invented way after the Ice Age ended.
  • In The Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild, they fall even harder on this trope.
    • They become the actual main protagonists of the movie, with the rest of the herd getting demoted to extra in their favor, even overshadowing the titular fan-favorite weasel, who becomes the deuteragonist of his own movie.
    • Once they are called out for their immaturity by the herd, they decide to abandon the group without telling anyone (including their adopted sister, who they have known for ages), and deciding to go to the most dangerous place on the world, which makes them hardly sympathetic, as it puts the herd on an unnecessary risk and worry for no real good reason than trying to prove they are mature enough to handle the situation.
      • What's worse is that the situation ends up in their favor, as the herd ends up giving them the reason at the end of the movie, despite not doing much to prove they are responsible beyond helping in a war they had no reason to be a part of.
    • Despite the movie ending in a supposed bittersweet note with them going separate ways with the herd, hardly anyone in the fanbase was upset for them leaving.
  • Before the Continental Drift, they had a more positive reception. However, they were derailed from fan favourite pranksters to annoying imbeciles who got on the audience’s nerves.
