Cecile Horton, later known as Virtue, is the tritagonist of the Arrowverse television series The Flash. She is a metahuman lawyer who later gained empathic abilities.
She was portrayed by Danielle Nicolet.
What Makes Her a Scrappy?[]
- While she was a well-received character in her earlier appearances and her relationship with Joe West was liked, her perception went down as she became a more prominent character and gained empathetic abilities.
- Like the other members of Team Flash, the audience hated her for stealing the spotlight from Barry Allen, the title character. It adds to the recurring problem of shoehorning almost every main character as a core team member to give them a role while leaving them with minimal development and bloating the cast. While her legal knowledge and her motherly relationship to the team could give her some relevance, she still didn't warrant becoming a full Team Flash member, let alone a field agent.
- She often uses her empathetic powers to state what other characters are feeling. Fans absolutely hate this, as it seems to suggest the audience are too stupid to know what people are feeling without being explicitly told. It is also a breach of privacy since she doesn't care about reading the minds of other Team Flash members and people overall without asking for consent or reserving it for serious situations.
- Her power growth was too rushed.
- During "Armageddon", when presented with the possibility of Joe West not being dead, she was rude to Caitlin or Iris even if they dealt with losing significant others and Iris was Joe's daughter.
- In "The Fire Next Time", she suddenly cares about not reading her clients' minds, which is too contradictory to the character due to not caring about it in previous or subsequent episodes.
- In "A New World, Part Three," she looks the same as she does in the present, even though the episode takes place in 2049 and Cecile should be in her seventies. Audiences considered this lazy.
- Fans were confused when she became Virtue in the finale, as the previous episode showed she didn't dawn that identity until 2049.
- Audience do not like how the show suggests that it doesn't matter how much time Cecile spends with her family, considering it problematic. While Joanie could care for herself, Jenna is a kid.
- Fans do not like how she became Virtue, as Virtue was Holly Anne Fields in the comics and it adds to the problem of giving her too much spotlight or unnecessarily making almost every regular character a superhero.
- The audience didn't like how she defeated Godspeed, seeing as how Godspeed is a speedster and should have been too fast for Cecile to counter. The fight between them was also criticized for being incredibly goofy and for suddenly making Cecile learn to fly.
- In the series finale, there was too much focus on her intent to finally marrying Joe.
- Many fans see her as a Creator's Pet due to her overly-abundant screentime.
- Overall, she's considered to be one of the worst, perhaps the single worst, character in the entire Arrowverse.
