What failed with the character?	Being a repulsive Designated Hero who, despite his deplorable acts, is supposed to be sympathized with.
Saving Graces	Him calling Rosalina "Rosa-Douche" can be seen as funny for how badly she was written. He was rewritten in Bowser's Children (later renamed to Bowser's Koopalings) to where he comes off as a lot more sympathetic and genuinely heroic to the audience.

King Bowser Koopa I is one of the main protagonists of the disowned web series The Koopa Kids.

He is the king of the Koopa Troop, a military contained within a single airship. He's also the father of the titular Koopa Kids.

Much like every other character in the series, he was voiced by the series' creator, FreezeFlame22.

What Makes Him A Scrappy?

• While most of the protagonists in the series are Designated Heroes in their own way, Bowser is widely considered to be the worst offender of them all. He's characterized as being a self-centered jerkass with very little in the way of redeeming qualities and openly doesn't care for any of his kids (except for Larry and Bowser Jr.) and often emotionally abuses or even beats them. He also labels Morton, Wendy and Lemmy as "The Rejects", making them sleep on stone beds and even refers Wendy as his biggest disappointment, and forgets the fact that Lemmy is his son. Even in spite of these terrible traits, Bowser is still expected to be sympathized with by the audience.
  • While one episode implies Bowser truly does care for Wendy, this isn't explored again in the series and he continues to abuse her as usual, getting rid of what could have been interesting character development for Bowser.
• While an unintentionally unsympathetic character throughout the entire series, the finale, "C U Later", has him at his absolute worst. In the episode, it's revealed that he had his first child, Ludwig, at 13 years old, and continued having more children with different women. He also murdered Larry and Wendy's biological mother when she was going to call the police on him, which causes Larry to undergo a mental breakdown upon finding out. He also adopted Morton to get a free beer for having seven kids, and then called him a waste of money when Bowser Jr. was born. And despite all of that, Bowser is still presented as sympathetic, and is even supposed to be outright sided with.
  • As with all of this wasn't bad enough, he's also implied to be a rapist, as Bowser Jr's birth was implied to be nonconsensual on Peach's end. This is more disgusting by the fact that Bowser Jr. is his favorite child. Even worse, in the same episode, Bowser is also implied (albeit presumably unintentionally) to have pedophilic tendencies, as shown when Roy was about to hatch from his egg, he hoped that the child would "be hot" when he thought it was a female egg, only to find out that the child ended up being male.

Trivia

• Due to FreezeFlame22's regret over the canon he created for The Koopa Kids, and how hated his series wound up getting, Bowser was eventually rewritten in a non-canon retcon of The Koopa Kids, called Bowser's Koopalings (formerly known as Bowser's Children), (while moving it to a separate channel, called "TKKArchive", where they are all unlisted, but you can still view them through the playlists.) where he is seen as more sympathetic and genuinely heroic.
