“ | It must be nice bein' a pretty little girl. No one ever expects you to do a damn thing. You and I both know you had a chance to save Luke. You and I both know what happened back there. I got nothin' more to say to you. | „ |
~ Bonnie hypocritically blaming Clementine for Luke's death, even though it was Bonnie's fault in the first place. |
Bonnie is a major antagonist in Season 2's Telltale's The Walking Dead. She is a former soldier for William Carver's group before she betrays him and decides to join the cabin group.
She was voiced by Erin Yvette.
What Makes Her a Scrappy?[]
- She is a hypocritical traitor who ends up betraying the cabin group to William Carver, indirectly causing a chain of deaths to unravel over the rest of the second season, starting with Walter.
- Even before Luke's death, like the rest of the group, she relied heavily on Clementine's help for survival and took her aid for granted. With Clementine being literally a kid and she an adult.
- In order to save Luke from falling into the unstable ice, she tries crawling towards him, even though he blatantly warns her not to crawl any closer because of her heavier weight. She refuses to listen and creates enough pressure in the ice for both of them to fall in.
- If Clementine is unable to break the ice, she drowns alongside Luke. Many players find it difficult to sympathize with her for the reasons below:
- She accuses Clementine, an eleven-year old child, for his death if she chooses to cover for Luke instead of rescuing him. Her reasoning for the blame amounts to "being a pretty little girl who doesn't expect to do a damn thing". What's worse is that Clementine was making the logical choice and that Bonnie was the one in the wrong. Even if Clementine does try to rescue Luke, she nearly drowns in the process herself. However, Bonnie walks off before Clem could explain, fully believing she was in the right.
- Later on, if she manages to pull herself out of the ice, she, alongside Mike and Arvo, later abandons Clementine, Kenny, Jane, and AJ in the cold, steals the group's supplies and leaves them out to perish. Her survival ensures that she never gets punished on-screen for her actions, making her a Karma Houdini.
- While she was a more positively received character in 400 Days that gets interesting and sympathetic characterization, in the second season, she throws them away and becomes a worse person than before, the writing in season 2 unintentionally shifts her personality as cowardly, hypocritical, and selfish, causing many players to perceive her negatively.
